Lyrophon (Denmark) / c. 1918

Design: A simple but dramatic representation of the Norwegian flag, a white cross on a red background (though on the flag, the cross is positioned left of centre and equal in the upper and lower segments). The song title, "March in honour of Frederik the 8th," no doubt refers to the Danish monarch of that name, who reigned from 1906 to 1912.

History: Collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway notes: "According to, this label was of Russian origin, having its beginnings in 1905." Label scan courtesy of collector Jukka Kettunen of Finland.
