Homochord 4

Homochord (U.K.) / c. 1914

Design: The image of the harpist and a recording horn, and even the imprinting, is here rendered in a single colour. Whether this was a result of wartime exigencies between England and Germany is unknown, but the line at the foot now declares the record to be entirely manufactured in England instead of being pressed in Berlin.

History: The German company Homokord sold Homophone and Homochord (the Anglicized version of Homokord) records in England between about 1907 and 1930. Label scan courtesy of musicologist and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K.
