Harper Columbia

The Harper-Columbia Bubble Book (U.K.) / 1918

back next

Design: Label scan courtesy of collector Kjell Thorsen of Norway, who notes: "This label is from a fairytale book, the album containing three records. This image is from the Second Bubble Book ("Book that Sings"), and is dated 1918." The charming and well-drawn illustration shows 'Tom, Tom, The Piper's Son' (stole a pig and away he ran), with Little Miss Muffet and other children's nursery rhyme figures in the background.

History: Unknown, but perhaps a collaboration between the Harper book publishing company of the U.S. and Columbia Records, although the rhymes seem to be of British origin.
