Design: The green, white and red colours of the Italian flag form a stripe across the centre, beneath an image of Il Duomo in Milan, the world's largest Gothic cathedral (below). The label name, with its tall, narrow strokes, complements the image. The rest of the lettering shows a mix of styles: Art Nouveau for 'Marca Registr'; sans serif at the top; and Latin (with spiky serifs) at the foot. The imprinting is done with types from the late Victorian era: the 'Aida' line features a wide, ornate font, while the rest is set in a condensed Latin. There are strong contrasts between vertical and horizontal emphases, and between angular and rounded lines.
