Favorite Record 2

Favorite Record (Brazil) / 1911

Design: A very unusual red and white striped pattern, quite unlike its European counterparts. Brazil's national colours are green and yellow, so why red and white was chosen is unclear, unless it was to amplify the carnival theme.

History: The German-owned Favorite Record label, marketed worldwide prior to World War I, was represented in Brazil by the Faulhaber company of Rio de Janeiro. Label scan courtesy of Miguel Angelo de Azevedo of Brazil, who notes that this session was recorded 23 May 1911.
