Favorite (The Netherlands) / c. 1919

back next

Design: A bold and lively brush script logo with a swash underline, typical of the post-WWI/early 1920s era, but which still makes an attempt to follow the outer curve, bending in a 'bridge' shape, instead of continuing to run upward in a straight line, like most examples of this style (e.g. Clausophon, right). A three-dimensional effect is achieved by having the horse jumping over the logo as if it were a fence (though the silhouette treatment suggests it was too difficult to present a fully realistic image in only one or two colours).

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Klaas Vonk of The Netherlands.
