Design: The lettering of 'Encore Record' is almost exactly same as that used on the Jumbo Record. The decorations either end of the centre stripe seem to be typical of the Jugendstil (the German version of Art Nouveau) movement, which was in vogue in the latter part of the first decade of the 20th century.
History: The record carried two tracks on each side, as seen above and below the centre stripe. Label scan courtesy of collector Georg Richter of Germany, who writes: "According to the matrix numbers, the orange/green label [below] is the 'earlier' side. It would be of interest to know whether the different colours were used for separate genres, but I have never seen another Encore record." According to music researcher Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., this label was produced by the (German) Beka record company about March 1910.
