Bombe

Bombe (Germany) / c. 1912

back next

Design: The dramatic image presages the beginning of the First World War, which would soon engulf many nations of the world. A bomb explodes in mid-air, spreading shrapnel, smoke and flame all around; an electrical charge sizzles around the lower segment to form a border. The typefaces used for the imprinting are from the late Victorian era.
