Design: A similar strapwork design with a double-line border can also be seen in an unidentified German label of c. 1908 (right).

History: Launched in 1903 and named after the initials of the surnames of its founders, Heinrich Bumb and Carl Koenig (BK, pronounced Be-Ka), Beka exported its records for both the British and Russian markets under this name. By 1917 the label became fully owned by the Swedish-German magnate Carl Lindström. With the outbreak of WWI, patriotic British record buyers would soon boycott records showing a German connection.
