Design: The Victorian impulse to decorate, and to use large amounts of natural organic ornamentation, is becoming more restrained and the ornament is becoming more stylized and geometric (see the next stage of simplification in the slightly later Silvertone label, right). The notation at the foot reads 'Pressed abroad,' which is probably a way of avoiding using the word 'Germany' at this time of war.
