Design: A wood-engraved image of Nipper the dog appears above the spindle hole. The undulating lines of type either side of the spindle hole is in imitation of intagio engraving, a printing process that was often used for high-class stationery and business cards. The type style employed, 'Engravers Bold,' is also in keeping with a monoline 'gothic' style much favoured by engravers. The descriptive words 'Yodle [Yodel] Song' here run in with the actual song title of 'Sleep, Baby, Sleep,' but in time these two elements would be treated separately.
