Rena Double-Face Record (U.K.) / 1908

back next

Design: Loosely based on the revamped 1908 Columbia label. A gorgeous swash-lettered logo for the label name, featuring a calligraphic flourish extending up-and-over from the bowl of the initial R. The rest of the letters, E-N-A, are drawn in a style reminiscent of the chubby, blocky style used by children's book illustrator Mabel Lucie Attwell, whose work was becoming extremely popular at this time.

History: Music researcher and collector Bill Dean-Myatt of the U.K., who supplied this image, notes that it was recorded and pressed by Columbia.
