Nicole Record (Austro-Hungarian Empire) / c. 1903

Design: At the top centre is a white dove with outstretched wings, the significance of which is unclear. Surrounding the other elements of the design are fussy Victorian-era ornamentation, including shading, curvilinear tendrils, stripes and bracketing.

History: Label scan courtesy of collector Gabriel Gössel of Czechoslovakia, who writes: "These single-sided records have nothing to do with Bohemia, of course. But the Czech language on the paper label informs us about an alleged 'Czech Band' recording ('Orchester Český'). In fact, it is the Band of the Swedish King's bodyguards."
