Design: This design reveals a first step toward visual appeal, featuring a crudely-drawn star in a night sky. The label name is minimized so that the drawing can predominate. A wide variety of font sizes and styles are used for the imprinting, in an attempt to form the type mass into a shape that reflects the illustration above. The cut-out shapes at the top are codes for the release date.
History: Favorite, a German-made record for the export market, was one of a number of labels under the Fonotipia umbrella. In the late 19th and early 20th century, German businesses were being given every encouragement to expand worldwide as part of a drive to create a pan-German economic empire to rival that of Britain.
