Design: A rounded cursive Gothic font is used for the GT&S line. The stub-serif font used for the label name is matched in the type used for the imprinting. Because the 'recording angel' is printed in a light colour on a dark background, it appears to be in reverse, making it look somewhat demonic!
History: Emil Berliner's associate company in the U.K., The Gramophone Company, was founded in London in 1898, and started making disc records in August of that year. It became the Gramophone & Typewriter Ltd. in July 1901. Label scan courtesy of Mauricio Ruiz of Argentina.
